OVH Datacenter in France was hit by a fire, bringing down thousands of websites and companies, including the popular services of WP Rocket and Imagify and a multitude of affected companies.

The cloud data center located in Strasbourg, France started at dawn and quickly consumed the entire structure of OVH, being controlled by local firefighters, who remained on site to ensure that the machinery building was cooled. The cause of the fire has not been reported to date.

OVH issued a support statement about what happened

“At the moment, we are facing a major incident at our Strasbourg DataCenter with a declared fire in the SBG2 building.
Firefighters immediately entered the scene, but were unable to control the fire in SBG2.

The entire site was isolated, which impacts all of our services on SBG1, SBG2, SBG3 and SBG4. If your production is in Strasbourg, we recommend activating your Disaster Recovery Plan. All of our teams are fully mobilized together with the firefighters ”.

OVH tweeted that while the fire is over, firefighters remain on site, cooling the building. They also tweeted that many of the servers will not be restarted any time soon.

“The fire is over. Firefighters continue to cool the buildings with water.
We do not have access to the site. That is why SBG1, SBG3, SBG4 will not be restarted today. ”The popular WordPress plugin WP Rocket tweeted that your site is down.
